Thermador Oven Not Heating
Oven Not Heating is usually one of a small number of specific, repairable causes — here's what to check and when it's worth calling a professional.
Common Causes
A seismic gas shut-off valve that has tripped
The Hayward Fault runs under this entire service area and Berkeley requires these valves at sale and on permitted work; when one trips above about magnitude 5.0 the range and oven die together and the appliance is fine.
A failed bake or broil element
The most common cause of a full loss of heat in an electric oven.
A drifted temperature sensor
Electronic sensors drift out of spec gradually, so the oven can run well off-target without any error showing.
Local conditions that matter here
The Hayward Fault runs directly under this whole service area, and Berkeley has required motion-activated gas shut-off valves at sale and on permitted work for years. Those trip above roughly magnitude 5.0. When one does, the range and the oven go dead together and it reads as a catastrophic failure — check and reset the valve before paying anyone to come out.
